IF DC HAD AWESOME MOVIE CONTINUITIES - The Batman Saga
Ok so imagine we live in a perfect universe (not like Earth-Q universe but actually perfect) where DC and Warner Bros got their shit together and realised that Batman has the potential to be a hugeass franchise that will make them even more money if they branch out into other characters and storylines from the Batverse, and we got a series of individual but interconnected movies across the span of a decade or so??? THINK OF THE AWESOME. THINK OF THE AWESOME. It would go something like this:
- The Batman - Begins with the Grayson’s funeral. The movie is then split between following Batman as he searches for the perpetrators, and Dick discovering the secret of Wayne Manor and becoming Robin. Bruce, Dick, Alfred, Chief Commissioner Gordon, Barbara, several GCPD detectives and villians are introduced.
- Batgirl - set 3-4 years later. Follows Barbara’s origin story and the origin story of a villian, preferably female (Poison Ivy would be the best bet). References throughout about the Joker.
- Batman: The Killing Joke - follows the graphic novel. Everyone cries, it’s terrible.
- Gotham Central - based on the Greg Rucka series, using the “Dead Robin” story line as a focal point. Introduces Barbara adjusting to her new role as Oracle.
- Birds of Prey - ladies kickin ass everywhere, errday. Introduces Balck Canary, Huntress and Steph Brown as Spoiler. Obligatory Batman apppearance.
- Nightwing - follows Dick as he branches out on his own to become Nightwing, with Jason becoming the new Robin as a subplot.
- Batman: A Death In The Family - follows the Red Hood arc, with Nightwing, Oracle featuring and a cameo by Catwoman.
- Catwoman - Not an origin story, but uses flashbacks to establish Selina’s life before becoming Catwoman. Tim Drake’s ascension to the Robin persona is the main subplot.
- Batman: Hush - follows the Hush saga.
- Arkham Asylum - a Batman movie from the perspective of the villains.
- Black Bat - centers on Cass Cain, introduces the League of Shadows, establishes Talia and Bruce’s relationship.
- Batman and Son - helloooooo Damian! Our final look at the Batverse, featuring appearances by the entire Batfam. Shows an aging and weary Batman who is more and more accepting of help from his “team” and establishes the Dick/Damian relationship.
